Hi The magick wand problem has been around for quite a while when trying to get Imagick running with PHP5.
The trick was to install the package libmagick9-dev -- not sure how "compatible" that is with libmagick10 but it works, it seems to match with the symbolic link comment above. I wrote some instructions here: http://php.net/manual/en/imagick.setup.php#83715 I didn't install php5-imagick from the repos as there is a more recent version available from PECL.
