I did have a brief look at the patch. It is very hard to review because of it length. moreover it entagles quite a lot of different changes without proper documentation why they have been done.
Please try to reduce your changes to a minimum. I don't really see why you converted the packages to cdbs, rerun autotools and so on. I'd suggest that you file bugs for each of your changes. Preferably against debian, so that Guus Sliepen <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>, the debian mainainer for this package can comment and integrate them in the debian package.
