Ok, I can reproduce the fact that the pdf's you created can't be opened by acrobat. However generating a pdf from the same source .odt file works fine for me in acrobat so it appears something is weird about your system in particular. Did you change any of the PDF export settings? Does moving/removing ~/.openoffice.org2 help it create pdf's that are viewable by acrobat?
