As for Gmail choice not having an IMAP set up would be because Gmail
doesnt support it. Once they decide or are pushed to support IMAP there
isnt anything that can really be done. As i recall Mozilla decided to
have a Gmail option for Tbird-2 just to make it easier to add gmail
account. You can file or look for a bug upstream on this issue to see if
they will impletment this option. It would be nice to have but its
Google that needs to do the work. I doubt Moailla will do it without
Gmail first doing it. Please post upstream links here to we can track them.
