I've just tried the above linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic solution (see https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/226279/comments/59 and https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/226279/comments/82 ). But as noted by Thomas Pifer (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/226279/comments/100 ), the modules do not seem to work. Despite my best efforts, after rebooting with the 2.6.24-19 kernel, I had no sound and no wireless (Atheros).
Is it safe to just do sudo apt-get --purge remove linux- image-2.6.24-19-generic linux-ubuntu-modules-2.6.24-19-generic linux- restricted-modules-2.6.24-19-generic ? Should I also delete timg-tpi-ppa.list from /etc/apt/sources.list.d to avoid the above items being reinstalled with the update?
