I agree with pvilela: this is not a bug, it is actually a feature! If I open a spreadsheet and I want to tweak the formulas, I must first save it; actually it is not as simple as pressing the save button, because I actually have to "save as..." it, name it, then save it. All of that, even if I don't want to keep it at all. If I open a text document and I want to modify the text and print it, I must do the exact same thing, even if I don't want to keep it. The same thing has happened with Thunderbird: all attachments now open as read-only files in the respective applications. Very annoying.
