I see the same issue with Hardy. I didn't think to check CPU usage but, after a day or two of uptime including a few suspend/resumes, pinging my router with my wireless card configured with networkmanager takes over 1 second instead of a few milliseconds. When I kill nm-applet and the root networkmanager processes and run dhclient, performance returns to normal.
