When I made fdisk list my partition table, I couldn't detect any overlapping partition either. But when calculating the actual size of the partitions (by multiplying with the block size) you could see a partition overlapped another. I found a tool however, a powerful piece of software which automagically repaired my partitions. I'm sorry I give so few details, but it's has been over two months and I don't remember the site where I read about the size calculation, neither the tool I used to repaid my drives (it was a Unix tool, just download and go, didn't have to boot from it). I'll do another search tonight to look for it.
Anyhow, the bug why I opened this entry for, is still present, and a new user could really mess up his hard drive without noticing... -- Gparted does not display an error dialog on overlapping partitions https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/218183 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
