I notice there is a new rev of the NVIDIA driver which may (or may not) help people. The Nvidia driver is at version 173.14.05 as of May 28,2008
This won't help me - I am running Hardy Heron as shipped with kernel 2.6.24-16 and was careful enough to read about reports of this regression before deciding to accept the latest kernel update to -17. My suspend to ram is not working at -16 and the release notes for the nvidia driver seem to indicate a problem has been fixed relayed to the 6150 Go chipset and DPMS not restoring the screen - sounds like the problem many are seeing here. I wonder if this recent update broke some people and helped others. I just tried to install the new nvidia driver and it failed to build a the needed kernel module so I thought no problem I will use the -uninstall feature. It uninstalled all right - everything. It did not restore the old kernel module. Now I'm really stuck since for some bizarre reason the -16 kernel no longer is in the official Ubuntu repository!??? Anyone know why this is? I can look at the repository in a web browser and see even older kernel builds but why did they remove "-16"?? Any ideas on how I can get back to an official Hardy Ubuntu "-16" kernel??
