Unfortunately php5 is not a good candidate to backport into the stable
release. There are several reasons for this:

- php interfaces can change between release and release.
- Adding more bugs that what we already have.
- Investing time in really testing the new version and not breaking anything.

However:

- The security fixes in php 5.2.6 will be backported by the security team.
- You are always welcome to build your own version of php. The wiki explains
how to do this.

Sorry

Regards
chuck
