Here is a temp fix that uses the ndiswrapper:

I had to use the gui software manager to remove b43-fwcutter b/c
aptitude and apt-get would not remove it.  After that, the instructions
worked no problem.

I hope that this gets fixed naively..... I wish that all of these
licensing issues could be resolved so I wouldn't have to do this each
time that I upgrade ubuntu.
