Thanks for the suggestion Dov, but I'm afraid it did not work. I had the
same error messages trying to install it.

But after searching again for Via drivers for linux I found this (see
link below) which works let's say 99.9%...

After installing the driver above and rebooting my machine, it started
with the screen resolution of 1024x768, just what I wanted!!

Great, except for one thing: the login screen is now gigantic (about 4
times the size of the screen) and I can't see the field to type the
username and pwd. But it works when I 'blindly' enter my login.

So, I'm now searching for a solution to this gigantic login screen...
Anyone, any ideas please?
