Public bug reported:
I am trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 Desktop for i386, built on
20061017.2, on a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ140P. This machine worked with 6.10
Knot 3 and passed all tests. Also, the CD was checked for defects and
none were found.
When installing with the default options and choosing to overwrite the
disk (no resizing), the process crashes with an error window with the
same content as the attached syslog. I have also attached the dmesg file
for system information.
