*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 30447 *** I have the same thing with Ubuntu (dapper) with gnome.
My machine has been Windows for quite some time and i used to let it run for months at a time and have never had any trouble with crashes. Not long ago i loaded on Suse 10.1 which ran fine until i installed the ATI drivers to get 3D support. After doing this i got the exact same trouble as listed here. The graphics are very stable with OpenGL and running 3D games however switching users or logging out would randomly crash the machine to the point where nothing worked (Logging on to a new session did not crash the computer). I switched to Ubuntu (Dapper) with gnome thinking it was a Suse or KDE issue but the same thing has started occuring as soon as i updated to the fglrx drivers from the package manager from Ubuntu. I think i will just try buying a NVidia card, but there is definately some kind of problem here. -- Crash when I switch user https://launchpad.net/bugs/46018 -- kubuntu-bugs mailing list kubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/kubuntu-bugs
