If the problem only exists when you are tryin to play youtube movies as well as play music in rhythmbox, then this is known, but unfortunately a fix requires a newer version of flash, version 10, which is still in beta. if however you can't play sounds in pidgin and rhythmbox, then this needs to be looked into. If you could let me know as to whether pidgin and rhythmbox sounds work together, that would be a great help.
