I have found a workaround for this (I would still count it as a bug). 
The crash only happens when you try to play an mp3 without the right 
gstreamer plugin installed. So the workaround is just to install the 
right plugin (hard to tell which one this is as I installed a load more 
all at once). It is now working fine, but I think that it should either 
display an error message when you try to play an unplayable file, or 
else not show the file in the first place.
