I can confirm this is related to sound, however I just installed and started esd like so:
sudo esd -d hw:0 -tcp -port 16001 -bind 127.0.0.1& [1] 16782 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/media/disk$ - using device hw:0 - accepting connections on port 16001 - accepting connections on port 16001 strace still shows it waiting on 16001. And when I select Edit->preferences->General, play a sound, then click 'Play', I get the freeze. Disabling sound "fixes" the freeze. Can someone please tell me why Thunderbird sound is broken out of the box?
