This could be related to the fact that the Dell D420 has two types of mouse. Could this be related to jcaya machine as well? Which type is it. Can you post the output of xev? If you have a mouse button in between the keyboard (like dell) and don't use the related mouse button, can you test with using different mouse buttons on the laptop?
