Tested again with 8.04 (originally tested under 7.10) and has exactly the same issue.
** Summary changed: - knetworkmanager fails to connect to network using dwl-g650+ (kubuntu 7.10) + knetworkmanager fails to connect to network using dwl-g650+ (kubuntu 8.04) ** Description changed: Binary package hint: knetworkmanager - Using a fresh install of kubuntu 7.10 my dwl-g650+ seems to be detected + Using a fresh install of kubuntu 8.04 my dwl-g650+ seems to be detected correctly (think its using the acx111 driver). The knetworkmanager applet on a right click shows a list of available access points with sensible "strength" meters. I click on my AP in the list (called withoutwires) and provide my WEP key. It then just sits there trying to connect and eventually fails asking for the WEP key again. I then turned off all encryption on the AP and tried again. This time there was no longer a pad lock next to the AP in the list, but on trying to connect it just does the same as before and eventually fails. I then opened up konsole and typed... > sudo iwconfig wlan0 essid withoutwires > sudo dhclient wlan0 ... and everything works fine. So it looks like kubuntu sets up the card/driver correctly, but somehow knetworkmanager fails to configure it. Any ideas why this is? or how I can use knetworkmanager with this card without having to type those lines in manually every boot? -- knetworkmanager fails to connect to network using dwl-g650+ (kubuntu 8.04) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/154252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
