Hi smwny, Yes....the Broadcom wireless cards are a big problem for Linux.
I have to ship my notebook off to HP to get the card replaced. My card was fried. I knew something was wrongs after installing the restricted drivers because I could smell the 'Oh so familiar "electric train set" ozone scent. Once that smell comes out of any PC you know immediately that something just got 'Toasted.
