I confirm the bug even now. Ubuntu 8.04 64-bit, with the 2.6.24-17-generic kernel. MB is Asus P5B Plus, the error is -16, Ubuntu detects no sound cards:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ cat /proc/asound/cards --- no soundcards --- [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ lsmod |grep snd_hda_intel snd_hda_intel 440408 0 snd_pcm 92168 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss snd_page_alloc 13200 2 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm snd_hwdep 12552 1 snd_hda_intel snd 70856 11 snd_hda_intel,snd_pcm_oss,snd_mixer_oss,snd_pcm,snd_hwdep,snd_seq_dummy,snd_seq_oss,snd_rawmidi,snd_seq,snd_timer,snd_seq_device [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ asoundconf list Names of available sound cards: [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ [EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ hwinfo --sound 27: PCI 1b.0: 0403 Audio device [Created at pci.296] UDI: /org/freedesktop/Hal/devices/pci_8086_284b Unique ID: u1Nb.kURRCMIOEo3 SysFS ID: /devices/pci0000:00/0000:00:1b.0 SysFS BusID: 0000:00:1b.0 Hardware Class: sound Model: "ASUSTeK HD Audio Controller" Vendor: pci 0x8086 "Intel Corporation" Device: pci 0x284b "HD Audio Controller" SubVendor: pci 0x1043 "ASUSTeK Computer Inc." So there must be another solution. p.s. I dont know how to recompile the kernel, dont want to use 2.6.25 kernel because I am afraid of missing dependencies and problems. -- Ubuntu Hardy Heron alpha 5 no sound device https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/194816 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
