I'm now experiencing the same behaviour on my Dell Latitude D610. The pause is for about 23 seconds. This is no coincidence.... IMHO thousands of systems must be having this behaviour. It doesn't really show to 'normal' users, because it happens during the 'graphical' boot phase, when the 'slider widget' is moving left and right (like the Knight rider car).
