I've got the same problem on an system upgraded from 7.10 to release version of 8.04.
I cannot unlock the network settings, I get the "could not authenticate. An unexpected error has occurred". I also cannot enter my WPA passphrase in the network manager. It just keeps asking for the passphrase over and over again. Maybe these things are related? -- [users-admin] Unlock -> "Could not authenticate.
