Public bug reported: Binary package hint: firefox
Running Hardy on two machines, and both of them are showing problems around Firefox. On one machine the problems are clearly related to JavaScript, but I'm not sure about the second one. I feel like the unresponsive JavaScript warning is the less severe problem, though it happens quite frequently. I think that the pages that cause it are usually pages that use extra JavaScript, such as Gmail or /. or a Flash object. The warning asks if I want to halt the script or let it continue, and I normally just let it continue and it eventually goes away and the page seems to have it's normal or expected appearance. The more serious problem is on a newer and larger machine. It rarely gives that JavaScript warning, but when I try to quit Firefox, it always seems to leave one last Firefox window behind. That window is unusually resistant to termination, and will even prevent the computer from shutting down. A couple of times I've had to hit the power button to kill the universe. No direct connection between those two machines, but I'm using Foxmarks on both of them, and I have a rather large number of bookmarks in the sync file. I have a couple of other machines waiting for the Hardy upgrade, but I'm not in a hurry while these first two are giving me so many problems... The release data is just Ubuntu 8.04 and the system is up to date, including Firefox 3 Beta 5. ** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Can't quit Firefox or shutdown computer https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/229425 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
