I`ve managed to reinstall 8.04 final on that laptop. After it booted, i`ve tried to activate the wireless by the NetworkManager. Clicked with LMB and seen my network there. Clicked to connect. Then the password was asked and was supplied (i guess it must be in ascii form, or hex? must be noted in prompt! both wasn`t succesful though). The window pops up again asking for password, although it was correct. In log I saw that wlan0 was disassociated with reason=3. Very informative.
Then I tried to set up the network with usual gnome network tool, given the password in ascii(which was wrong) and then in hex(that`s succeeded), and set all my fixed IP`s. After that i`ve got the network working, but I cannot manage wireless with nm-applet - only manual configuration is available in menu from now on. Still "Edit wireless networks" haven`t any single one in list. After I set the interface back to roaming mode, i can manage it again. Well I can`t. Alas I`ve got fixed IP`s both on work and at home, so i can`t really be in "roaming", only if the NM allows for presets with different fixed IP`s. ** Attachment added: "Syslog after 2nd try" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/14457872/syslog3.txt -- Network manager and wireless+fixed IP problems https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/219964 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
