Same thing happened for me: totem is uninterruptible, I have run a movie for about 10 minutes or so, but what I did, was I was constantly searching (using the mouse scroll wheel) for a specific part of the movie. After I've found it, I watched it (for like 2 - 3 minutes or so), and then closed totem. And ever since (it's been more than 12 hours) processor use is constantly at 100% (with totem having a variable percentage depending on what other things I do on the system) and system load at around 10. The process name is: 10975 ? DNl 649:25 totem file:///media/Iomega/Seriale/Kyle%20XY/Kyle%20XY%20-%20Season%201/Kyle%20XY%20-%201x02%20Sleepless%20in%20Seattle.avi Notice that the movie runs from an external HDD, which has never been disconnected, and that has NTFS file system. Hope this helps.
