As my hardware configuration worked fine with 6.06/7.04, but doesn't
with 7.10/8.04, I was loathe to change my hardware to fix what obviously
seems like a software problem.

Anyway, removing the power to the CD-Writer YAMAHA CRW8424E, and making
the TOSHIBA DVD-ROM the Secondary IDE Master, allowed me to successfully
boot up the 8.04 Live CD.

To burn CD's I am left with the situation of having to reconnect the CD-
Writer, and then boot up into Windows.

It appears that this CD-Writer is now not compatible with Ubuntu.
Is there any possible way to get it working again with Ubuntu?
