Yes gnome-system-monitor 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 is an improvement, but it only seems to be a relative improvement of around 33% to me.
So even at 2.22.1-0ubuntu2 gnome-system-monitor is causing Xorg to use 40% CPU on a "reasonable" Core Duo (was 60% before) just to draw the CPU graph. That's still almost one whole CPU core. I wouldn't say this bug is fixed yet. Certainly *most* of the problem is still present.
