I would like to add to this that it is not a great solution. After changing this setting, GTK apps now use a larger font size than I want. I'd turned that down some after initial installation (Thunderbird's toolbar is far too wide on my screen with the default size), but with the "Other Theme" box selected, the font size is ignored.
