Public bug reported: I have an Acer Travelmate 630 laptop with 1GB RAM and a pre HT Intel P IV CPU. This system had been running Ubuntu 7.10 fine.
I tried both a KUbuntu full-mode and text-mode install. Both failed with an error indicating there was a HD timeout waiting for DMA. I have booted Knoppix. I am able to access the hard disk from Knoppix. (The KUbuntu install DVD was successfully used to upgrade my Thinkpad T61p laptop. I believe the media is good.) I have also tried an XUbuntu installation. That also failed. I used bittorrent to download the media. I have not tried this DVD on another system, however. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- KUbuntu 8.04 Install Gets DMA Errors https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/226970 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
