Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04. It worked well.

Just for kicks, I burned myself an 8.04 LTS server CD. I inserted it
into my 8.04 LTS desktop system and ran the upgrade. It went through the
"Preparing the upgrade" item, but before it finished the "Setting
software sources" item, it said that I was up-to-date. I clicked OK, and
then the upgrade manager crashed.

Here's the backtrace if you want it.

** Affects: update-manager (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
