Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: network-manager

This bug may be related in some way to bug #193970 (connection
difficulties with Intel 3945abg network card)

Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, network-manager 0.6.6-0ubuntu5

After manual connection to a wireless network, because automatic
connection failed, network-manager seems to have problems: the icon in
the taskbar shows two computer screens with a warning sign, lleft-
clicking only gives an option to manually connect (it should show
available wireless networks), but in reality the wireless connection
works.

top indicates 100% CPU activity, for more than 27 minutes now:
PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
 5166 root 20 0 38504 2224 1868 R 100 0.2 27:12.59 NetworkManager

This consumes a lot of battery power.
