It's not a USB device issue. I tried removing every cable from the back of the PS except the power and the monitor, and using PS/2 mouse and keyboard. Same result with both the i386 and the amd64 live cd's. If I weren't a dangerous fundamentalist Ubuntu user, I'd go back to Windows. As it is, I think I'll go back to Gutsy.
