I use GRUB in building all my UFDs. Not an expert, but I do it and write up a how-to for others. I'm currently updating this for Hardy, but it's exactly what I used for HH 8.04 except I edited the file scripts/casper to delete the string mode=755 from the one line it appears in, and it works (so far).
