Tried a fresh install

Booted up and then hit 'F6' in the install screen. Added 'acpi = off' to
the end of the line. Pressed enter. Laptop then booted up into the Live
CD environment.

>From there I installed Hardy Heron. Selected 'manual' for the partitions
as I have separate partitions for '/' and '/home'. Then when finished
the laptop was restarted.

The first problem I noticed was that the sound is all messed up. Just
gets caught in a constant loop or a sort of echo effect

With ACPI off now my power management does not give any battery
information & whenever I go to battery I now loose connection to all my
usb devices and can not reconnect unless I restart laptop.

Will there be a way for me to enable ACPI again as it is an important
feature on a laptop?

Also, on shutdown the process freezes with a page of multiple warnings
about the network_manager!? This screen will stay on (I have left for 1
hour) until I hold down the power off button to shut it down.

If any detailed information is required please just tell me what you
need and where to get it from.

Thank you
