Tried a fresh install Booted up and then hit 'F6' in the install screen. Added 'acpi = off' to the end of the line. Pressed enter. Laptop then booted up into the Live CD environment.
>From there I installed Hardy Heron. Selected 'manual' for the partitions as I have separate partitions for '/' and '/home'. Then when finished the laptop was restarted. The first problem I noticed was that the sound is all messed up. Just gets caught in a constant loop or a sort of echo effect With ACPI off now my power management does not give any battery information & whenever I go to battery I now loose connection to all my usb devices and can not reconnect unless I restart laptop. Will there be a way for me to enable ACPI again as it is an important feature on a laptop? Also, on shutdown the process freezes with a page of multiple warnings about the network_manager!? This screen will stay on (I have left for 1 hour) until I hold down the power off button to shut it down. If any detailed information is required please just tell me what you need and where to get it from.
