I confirm this bug with non-html text. I am writing a report in LaTeX,
and editing not-so-long lines with math-environments is quite slow. RAM
usage is 15% (out of 2GB) and processor goes to 100% when editing the
following line:

Chequeo clones de $\gamma$1 (y $\gamma$2 utilizando el primer interno 3IgGCH1
con colony-PCR. Sólo hago el chequeo con clones que hayan dado positivo por
colony-PCR utilizando los primers de clonado (pág. \pageref{08-04-01}). Los
clones chequeados son: $\gamma$1\#1, $\gamma$1\#3, \gamma$1\#4, $\gamma$1\#5,
$\gamma$1\#6, $\gamma$1\#7, $\gamma$1\#8, $\gamma$1\#9, $\gamma$1\#10,
$\gamma$1\#11, $\gamma$1\#12, $\gamma$2\#1, $\gamma$2\#2, $\gamma$2\#3,
$\gamma$2\#4, $\gamma$2\#6, $\gamma$2\#8, $\gamma$2\#9, $\gamma$2\#10 y
$\gamma$2\#12. Utilizo pRTLF202 como control positivo.

I've got the LaTeX plugin activated, and syntax highlighting is also on.
If I turn syntax highlighting off, the slowdown disappears, so I guess
it might have to do with that.
