I deleted the partition and reinstalled 7.1 and upgraded to 8.04 again. Worked fine this time, I wonder.
I did that after I tried installing directly to 8.04. It would only give me 640 in resolution with my Nvidia 440 card. Maybe I did something wrong. Thanks for all the advice I am healed.
