It's the very same problem for me. (Ubuntu Hardy).

Putting the domain names into /etc/hosts did not do the job, as well as
putting them into /etc/resolv.conf :-/

Tcpdump shows me some failed queries, though they apear on startup of
evolution. Not when acually trying to add an other users folder
