** Description changed: Binary package hint: linux-restricted-modules-2.6.17-10-generic I have a DWL-G520 Atheros (madwifi) card which worked flawlessly in - Dapper. In Edgy (fixed in another bug), the card must be activated with - `modprobe ath_pci` and then `depmod`. Once "working," the cars seems to - work fine. + Dapper. In Edgy (worked on in Bug #60938), the card must be activated + with `modprobe ath_pci` and then `depmod`. Once "working," the cars + seems to go fine. Until after a few minutes. Using the Network Monitor applet, I can tell that the card disconnects from the network every 3 to 10 seconds. It then reconnects after about a 1/2 second delay. This isn't a problem with the applet itself, I can tell that it actually disconnects in Firefox, Gaim, etc. I opened GNOME System Monitor to check the network settings. With all internet applications closed, there is a constant stream of ~1 KB/s being recieved, and about 0.1 KB/s being sent, even while the card disconnects from the network. Other problems arise from this also. The card may also just stop working for a few minutes if it disconnects too often. Running `modprobe ath_pci` and `depmod` again fixes the problem, until it decides to disconnect and stop working again.
