Public bug reported: Hello, I have a problem in connecting my external usb disk (with two partitions, one vfat, the other ext3) in kde 4.0.3 (kubuntu 8.04 distribution). The two volumes are correctly detected, but when I click the ex3 one on dolphin I get the following error:
An error occurred while accessing 'Volume (ext3)', the system said: mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/sdb1,... The vfat partition works ok with dolphin. It is not a problem of the ext3 volume since it works in other systems (e.g kubuntu 7.10, windows, ...). dmesg gives the following log: [ 3469.891525] usb 5-5: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5 [ 3470.949132] usb 5-5: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 3470.961261] scsi4 : SCSI emulation for USB Mass Storage devices [ 3470.967525] usb-storage: device found at 5 [ 3470.967532] usb-storage: waiting for device to settle before scanning [ 3472.676993] usb-storage: device scan complete [ 3472.677691] scsi 4:0:0:0: Direct-Access Generic USB Disk 9.02 PQ: 0 ANSI: 2 [ 3472.690337] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] 234441648 512-byte hardware sectors (120034 MB) [ 3472.691262] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [ 3472.691269] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00 [ 3472.691274] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 3472.692266] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] 234441648 512-byte hardware sectors (120034 MB) [ 3472.693141] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Write Protect is off [ 3472.693147] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Mode Sense: 03 00 00 00 [ 3472.693151] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Assuming drive cache: write through [ 3472.693158] sdb: sdb1 sdb2 [ 3472.716041] sd 4:0:0:0: [sdb] Attached SCSI disk [ 3472.716115] sd 4:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg1 type 0 [ 3475.667805] UDF-fs: No VRS found [ 3475.692483] ISOFS: Unable to identify CD-ROM format.
