Make sure the internal speaker is enabled. Open the Volume Control by right-click (if you can) on the speaker icon, go to the switches tab and enable the speaker switch. You may need to plug in a 2 button mouse to be able to right-click... or set up the 2-finger tap thing on the touchpad.
