Same problem here. I already tried to build alsa with m-a but it did not solve it. (I did not tried all the "options … model=" tough)
$ lspci|grep Audio 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation 82801G (ICH7 Family) High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) $ cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#*|grep Codec Codec: Realtek ALC861 Codec: Motorola Si3054 $ alsamixer alsamixer: function snd_mixer_load failed: No such file or directory I also noticed the following in dmesg/syslog, but I suppose it is due to what I put in alsa-base: $ dmesg|grep hda [ 46.360387] hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC861, trying auto-probe from BIOS... $ sudo /etc/init.d/alsa-utils reset * Resetting ALSA... amixer: Mixer hw:0 load error: No such file or directory amixer: Mixer hw:0 load error: No such file or directory […] (this last line is repeated 36 times!) amixer: Mixer hw:0 load error: No such file or directory [ OK ] and of course it does not solve the problem. I had already tried that before trying to build alsa with m-a. After building alsa, alsa-utils reset worked, but still no sound. I removed the generated alsa-modules-* package and now it does not work any more… Btw, is there anything else to do to revert the changes of module-assistant and alsa-utils reset ? Before doing that I had still very low sound, now I do not have any sound at all… -- alsamixer broken in hardy - intel hda https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/192382 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
