This is definitely a tricky problem, it hangs at a place where it should be pretty much impossible and I'm currently trying to figure out how this can happen. The new log is even more detailed, I changed the code again so that it might fix the issue (but that is less likely). If it still hangs, can you think of anything special in your gtk configuration? A theme maybe or use of something like the gutsy- backports repository etc? I would love to be able to reproduce the problem here.
