Public bug reported: Binary package hint: python-numpy-doc
Main problem: python-numpy-doc contains just documentation for f2py subpackage, not for NumPy itself. Secondary problem: the description of the package says: This package contains a powerful N-dimensional array object, sophisticated (broadcasting) functions, tools for integrating C/C++ and Fortran code, and useful linear algebra, Fourier transform, and random number capabilities. It derives from the old Numeric code base and can be used as a replacement for Numeric. It also adds the features introduced by numarray and can be used to replace numarray. Numeric users should find the transition very easy I think this is confusing, because this package contains (or should contain) just documentation for NumPy, but description says it has whole NumPy. This is not just Ubuntu packaging problem, same problem is with Debian package too.
