Please report whether this is still the case after reboot. For me, apt-get-removing all scim packages fixed the issue temporarily, but after reboot, AltGr did not work (again).
I just reinstalled scim, but this did not change anything. So, my current situation is this: After booting, AltGr does not work. So I right click my keyboard panel applet, select keyboard settings, switch to the second tab (layouts) and press the layout settings button, which is located on the right side, below the 'reset to defaults' button and above the 'try your settings here' input box. A dialog "keyboard layout settings' is opened. There, I expand Third Level Choosers. Actually, I guess I could take *any* of those expandable categories. Now, I usually tick the 'Press Right Alt key to choose 3rd level'. The interesting thing here is: - If it is ticket already, I untick it - If it is unticked, I tick it. - In both cases, I can click twice, so that in the end I'm still having the same settings as before - and it still works. This Changing-The-Keyboard-Layout-Settings, no matter in which way I change them, brings back the AltGr key. (äåéëþüúíóö«»¬) Now I would really like to know what happens inside the X keyboard server, and then autorun this on every boot.
