this is not a bug; but intended. if libraries are API incompatible they
cannot be symlinked with the incompatible version. If you change
symlinks on your own in /usr, you are own your own ...

/var/lib/dpkg/info/gcjwebplugin-4.2.postinst registers the plugin with the
correct path:
PLUGINPTH=/usr/lib/gcj-4.2-81/libgcjwebplugin.so

gij-4.2 makes sure that it conflicts with an older java-gcj-compat version:
Conflicts: java-gcj-compat (<< 1.0.76-4)

$ ls -l /usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/lib/libgcjwebplugin.so
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 38 Apr 30 10:02
/usr/lib/jvm/java-gcj/jre/lib/libgcjwebplugin.so ->
/usr/lib/gcj-4.2-81/libgcjwebplugin.so

this looks all ok to me, I'm closing this as invalid,

btw, please use the icedtea-gcjwebplugin for better results in hardy
