Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: update-manager

The logs indicate dpkg signaled an error, yet the count of failed
packages is zero. After the upgrade, I had a message that my system
might be unusable. I have rebooted into 8.04 (upgraded from kubuntu
7.10) with no problems so far. xemacs was announced as not having
upgraded properly, and indeed seems to need some repair work to get it
to initiate properly. I refused upgrades of the ntp and ssh daemon
scripts (to keep my listed timeservers and to preserve scripts that
initiate an ssh brute force attack filter, respectively). I also may
have a couple of packages for which I compiled upgraded versions without
an ubuntu install.
