I have a MacBook 4th gen (4.1), and I've got sound working too after adding the line to /etc/modprobe.d/options and updating the initrd (note : I had to use "sudo" to update the initrd). Sound only came on after plugging and unplugging a headphone jack, as with Pablo Marti. Very strange...
