Correction - the only quick fix tool needed for Ubuntu 8.04 is System, Administration, Storage Device Manager, added via Applications, Add/Remove etc or as 'pysdm' with Synaptic, Search etc.
The problem doesn't arise with Ubuntu 7.10, because 'removeable drives' are found and automatically mounted by the Internet-connected initial installation process. If like me, you have compressed data files like photo, audio and video collections stored on other drives, shared by different operating systems and/or Ubuntu packages, they need links for repetitive access. In Ubuntu 8.04 such links currently have to be re-established at the start of each session, which only happens automatically if 'pysdm' has been used to mount and save those links. Hopefully an Update can be created to restore the automatic Ubuntu 7.10 process to Ubuntu 8.04. -- Ubuntu Installation failure to mount drives https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/221953 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
