It appears I celebrated to early... After doing the ldconfig the logout stop working again :(
After installing the xorg and amdcccle the glxgears wouldn't work, complaining it couldn't find the libGL.so.1. After doing a ldconfig /usr/lib/libGL.so.1 is pointing to /usr/lib/libGL.so.1.2, which is part of the xorg-driver-fglrx.
